Today is my fiancee’s birthday! He is not actually much for sweets, but what’s a birthday without a little indulgence? I thought I’d get out of my comfort zone and try making caramel, one of my all-time favorite confections. Making candy is such an intimidating thing because the temperature is so very, very important. A good candy thermometer is absolutely essential. But once you’ve got that taken care of, it’s actually very easy to make! These bars are incredibly indulgent, and you can certainly use less caramel if you like. Leftover caramel pairs very well with any apples you may have lying around. I think you know what my next recipe is going to be….
